Mr. Johnson was from Sparta, White County, Tennessee where he graduated from White County High School in 1951. Robert received his Bachelor's degree in music from Tennessee Tech in 1955 and his Master's degree from Vandercook College of Music in Chicago, IL. He began his teaching career at Franklin County High School in 1955. In 1959, Mr. Johnson became the director at Dickson County High School where he served until his retirement in 1987. Mr Johnson married Miss Betty Ray Mayes. They had a son, Ken, and a daughter, Tara.
